Chaos has many names: anarchy, pandemonium, turmoil, or, utter confusion; and there is no better example than the events concerning Russia during the Great War and the debacle that was the Allied attempts at intervention there. This chaos was self-inflicted by the Allies themselves. The Allied strategic objectives in Russia changed over the course of three distinct time periods. From the first Russian Revolution in March 1917 to the November Bolshevik revolution, the Allies tried to keep Russia in the war as an active ally. From November 1917 to the November 1918 Armistice, they tried to prevent the Bolsheviks from making a separate peace and, failing that, to re-establish an Eastern Front. Finally from the Armistice to the fall of the Whites in Crimea in 1920, the Allies tried to strangle Bolshevism. Throughout, Britain remained the driving force despite Lloyd George's antipathy towards military action and President Woodrow Wilson's efforts to minimize intervention.

At the same time, America has less and less reason to want to engage with the region and now has only one functional ally apart from Israel. The New Arab Wars describes how the political landscape of an entire region has been convulsed, with much of it given over to anarchy, as proxy wars on behalf of three competing powers—Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia—scar the region. Artist Yves Klein (1928–1962) and architect Claude Parent (born 1923) first worked together in 1969, on Klein’s Air Architecture project; subsequent collaborations included the "Pneumatic Rocket" and the Fontaines de Varsovie project. Parent and his office produced professional architectural designs for Klein’s concepts, clarifying their utopian aspirations with exquisite delicacy. Shortly after Klein’s death at the age of 34, his widow, Rotraut Klein-Moquay, and his mother, Marie Raymond, asked Parent to create an architectural design for an Yves Klein Memorial, to be built on a small plot of land above Saint-Paul de Vence in southeastern France. This handsome volume chronicles Klein and Parent’s relationship, with reproductions of drawings, paintings and sculptures, plus archival materials and photographs.
